December – ACYOA Blood Drive
It is the ACYOA initiative to have a blood drive in December in honor of the help the American Red Cross gave to the Armenian people during the earthquake. Check for information in your local parishes, as many blood drives are being held December 7th – 31st.


Meet the newly elected Central Council!

A new Central Council was elected at this past May’s General Assembly. Talin Hitik, Alex Derderian and Kevork Vartanian return to finish the remainder of their terms.  Joining them are Danielle DerAsadourian, who starts her second term, and newly elected members Lydia Kurkjian, Ara Janigian and Daniel Mantis.

The Central Council has been hard at work planning new events for the ACYOA and well as revamping current programs.  Look for our new ACYOA website to be launched this fall!


General Assembly & Sports Weekend Recap

General Assembly & Sports Weekend took place Memorial Day Weekend. The event was held at the Dolce Palisades Conference Center in Palisades, NY and the weekend was a huge success! There were 250 registered guests who participated in basketball, volleyball and individual sporting competition. The highlight of the weekend was Saturday night’s festivities, as hundreds of Armenian youth flooded the Hudson Terrace in Manhattan, singing along to a performance by the International Superstar Robert Chilingirian! Sunday morning, many of the youth gathered to celebrate Badarak, which was held at the Conference Center. A special thank you to the Sports Weekend Committee:

Ecumenical Work Week in New Orleans, LA

Devastation and Destruction...a city in shambles.

Even after four years of recovery from the wrath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, New Orleans still isn’t one hundred percent what it used to be. Despite the fact that thousands of volunteers have traveled there to lend a helping hand, the devastation of the city of New Orleans is still vast. I, along with eleven other Armenian youths from across the country, was able to witness first-hand, one of the most widespread devastations in the history of the United States, and lend my own hands to the effort to repair the city.
