ACYOA Central Council meets in New York City
The newly-elected ACYOA Central Council convened for the first time on June 13, 2009 at the Diocesan Center in New York City. The Council set the organizational goals each year. This year they are focusing on chapter development and sustainability initiatives; increasing communication with members through the use of networking websites such as Facebook.com and publication of its newsletter, Hye Hokin. The Central Council members are: Chairman Alex Derderian of the St. Sahag and Mesrob church in Wynnewood, PA; Vice Chair Talin Hitk of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Church in Chicago, IL; Secretary Lydia Kurkjian of the St. Gregorys Church in Whiteplains, NY; Treasurer Danny Mantis of St. Sahag and Mesrob Church in Racine, WI ; Programming Coordinator Gevork Vartanian of the St. Sahag and Mesrob Church in Providence, RI; Public Relations Coordinator Ara Janigian of the St. Sahag and Mesrob Church in Providence, RI; and Chapter Relations Coordinator Danielle DerAsadourian of the St. James Church in Evanston, IL. The meeting was presided over by Diocesan Vicar Fr. Haigazoun Najarian. Joining the ACYOA leaders at the meeting were, the President of the ACYOA, Archbishop Khajag Barsamian; ACYOA Executive Secretary Nancy Basmajian. On Sunday, June 11, 2007, the Central Council members attended badarak at St. Gregory the Inlightener Armenian Church in Whiteplains, NY.
