ACYOA hosts Regional Conference in Springfield, MA
With many active ACYOA chapters in the New England region, the ACYOA Central Council planned a New England Regional Meeting to gather different thoughts and ideas from the local members. The event was held at St. Mark Armenian Church in Springfield, MA, just hours before their much anticipated 2nd annual “Fall Dance” that was hosted by the St. Mark’s ACYOA seniors. A regional meeting has not been held in New England for many years and a large number of attendees were expected, and as projected a total of 32 people attended. Five different parishes were represented, along with six clergymen. Of those 32 participants, ten seminarians along with Very Rev. Father Daniel Findikyan and Der Stepanos Doudoukjian were present. The conference was very productive as many topics were discussed throughout the day, such as current events, strengthening chapter relations and membership recruitment. The meeting also had guest speaker, Der Krikor Sabounjian, who spoke to the group on the importance of ACYOA. The Department of College Ministry was also represented by Julie Hoplamazian, who shared the events and opportunities that College Ministry offers to young adults. At the conclusion of the meeting, many stayed for the Fall Dance which drew near two hundred people! A special thanks to the St. Mark ACYOA for hosting the event and their parish council who so graciously provided a delicious lunch for all.
